Adrenal cyst

ADRENAL CYST

• Age: common in 5th and 6th decades but can occur at any age

• Signs and symptoms: Non-specific with dull flank pain, gastrointestinal symptoms like epigastric distress and palpable abdominal mass. Anemia if there is hemorrhage into cyst

• Types of cysts

  • Epithelial cyst – this is true glandular or retention cyst

  • Endothelial cyst – lymphangiomatous or angiomatous cysts lined by endothelial cysts

  • Parasitic cyst – Echinococcal cysts

  • Pseudocyst – unilocular lined by dense fibrous tissue
