Named after American Pathologist WIlliam Thomas Councilman.

This is also known as Apoptotic body or Councilman hyaline Body
-
It is an eosinophilic globule that represents a hepatocyte undergoing apoptosis and some times necrosis
-
It is seen most commonly in Yellow fever and other viral hemorrhagic fevers
-
Also noted in liver biopsy of patients with viral hepatitis along with mid zonal necrosis and lymphocytic infiltration
