Gemistocytic astrocytoma
- Variant of astrocytoma characterized by more than 20% of gemistocytic tumor cells.
- Occasional occurence of gemistocytes is not considered
- Gemistocytes has plump, glassy, eosinophilic cell bodies with angular shape. Nuclei are eccentric with small nucleoli
- Perivascular lymphocytic cuffing will be present
- Gemistocytes are GFAP positive immunohistochemically.
