Necrosis with example

NECROSIS 
  • Definition – Necrosis is defined as morphologic changes that takes place in cell after its death due to denaturation of intracellular proteins and enzymatic digestion of the lethally injured cells 
  • Types of necrosis 
    • Coagulative necrosis – eg. Myocardial infarction, renal infarct
    • Liquefactive necrosis – eg. Infarct brain, abscess
    • Caseous necrosis – eg. Tuberculosis
    • Fat necrosis – eg. Acute pancreatitis and traumatic fat necrosis of breast 
    • Fibrinoid necrosis – eg. Autoimmune diseases and in peptic ulcer
