Neutrophils with bilirubin crystals

Neutrophils in neonates and children with marked hyperbilirubinemia may show neutrophil crystals.

These crystals are more common in septicemia patients than patiens with hemolyic disease

Formation of crystals are considered to be invitro phenomenon as these are specifically seen in blood samples collected in EDTA
