Scirrhous carcinoma

SCIRRHOUS CARCINOMA

• It is infiltrating duct carcinoma having hard consistency

• This is because of abundant  collagenous stroma due to desmoplasia

• Grossly the tumor appears gray white due to desmoplastic stroma

• Retraction of nipple may be present.

• Microscopically tumor cells are dispersed  in hyalinized collagenous stroma and are arranged in cords and glandular pattern
