ULCERATIVE COLITIS
Ulcerative colitis- Mucosa lined by columnar epithelium with ulceration. Lamina propria shows benign mucosal glands. Few glands show neutrophilic collection in the lumen(crypt abscess)and some of them show neutrophilic infiltration in the epithelial cells (cryptitis). Stroma shows mixed inflammatory cell infiltrate (H&E,X100)
Ulcerative colitis – Ulcerated mucosa with lamina propria showing mucosal glands lined by mildly dysplastic epithelium with neutrophilic infiltration (cryptitis) and neutrophilic collection in lumen (crypt abscess). Stroma shows mixed inflammatory cells and congested blood vessels (H&E,X200)
Ulcerative colitis – Mucosal gland showing neutrophilic infiltration in the lining epithelial cells (cryptitis). Adjacent stroma shows mixed inflammatory cells (H&E,X400)
Ulcerative colitis – Mucosal glands with mild dysplasia showing neutrophilic infiltration in the lining epithelial cells (cryptitis). Adjacent stroma shows mixed inflammatory cells (H&E,X400)
Ulcerative colitis – Lamina propria shows mucosal glands with mild dysplasia. One gland is lined by flattened atrophic epithelium with crypt abscess. Interstitial stroma shows lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate (H&E,X400)
Ulcerative colitis – Mucosal gland showing neutrophilic infiltration in the epithelium (cryptitis) and neutrophilic collection in the lumen (Crypt abscess). Adjacent stroma shows mixed inflammatory cells (H&E,X400)
